E1414 Identification and Analytical Methods
Identification and analytical procedures used for E1414 quality control include microscopic examination, iodine staining, copper reduction testing, acetyl-group determination and vinyl-acetate residue analysis.
Non-pregelatinized E1414 retaining its granular structure may be examined microscopically to evaluate characteristic starch granule shape, size and structure.
A starch suspension is treated with iodine solution to evaluate the characteristic color response of the sample.
Following acid hydrolysis, the prepared sample is evaluated using the prescribed alkaline copper-tartrate reaction and characteristic red precipitate response.
Acetyl content is determined by alkaline saponification followed by titration of the remaining alkali with standardized hydrochloric acid solution.
Where applicable, residual vinyl acetate is determined using the specified gas-chromatographic procedure.
These values represent Tianjiang's current quality-control test limits for E1414 Acetylated Distarch Phosphate. Actual batch results are reported in the corresponding COA. Specifications may be adjusted according to product grade, raw-material source and customer application requirements.
